I have seen the light!

So after taking portraits for my cousins a few weeks back, I was disappointed with my ability to do inside, low light portraits. Usually I'm taking pics of mountains in day light, or crazy band members on a dark, dingy stage. I'm well aware of the abilities/limitations of my camera and know how to handle those situations quite well. However, I've never really done classy, sit down portraits.

I decided that I needed some new equipment. My father got me a badass 7 lb tripod for christmas, which is 10x better than the older one I had. I also invested in a wired-remote trigger for my camera, allowing me to trigger the shutter without actually touching the camera. Kiss those vibrations goodbye. The icing on the cake, though, is my new studio light. That's right, I own some studio lighting now. It's intense, 500W intense, to be exact. It's bright.

Thoughts on ...

Blade Trinity

Sarah and I went to see the new Blade movie last night after dinner. Overall, I thought the movie was rather lame. Between vampires turning into burning cinder piles after death, and the fact that they die from silver bullets (I thought silver killed werewolves, shouldn't he be shooting bullets with wooden tips?), it just seemed silly.

However, there were two redeeming qualities:
1. Jessica Biel - For having only played hot-girl roles with no action involved, I felt that she made the transition pretty well, much better than most have from her class in other movies. I still feel that Sarah Michelle Gellar kicks more vampire-ass, but, she never had cool weaponry though.
2. Ryan Renolds - There's not much compared to watching Van Wilder beat up Triple H. I was pretty impressed with the ability to take his witty-sarcastic remarks that made him popular in his other stuff (Van Wilder, Berg on "2 guys, a girl, and a pizza place"), and make it work while fighting and getting beat up.

That's all I got for now. Later kids.

Happy Birthday Sarah

Everyone wish Sarah a Happy Birthday when you see her today.

She's leaving the realm of the teenagers for that of the young 20's.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Chocolate...um...orange?

Last night I was pretty tired and in a rush while making a quick supper, and I wanted a drink to go with it. I wanted to make some chocolate milk, but, I was going to the gym later and wanted to limit how much and of what type of food I ate to prevent an upset stomach.

I started to take the Nestle's Quik mix out and got a spoon to scoop/stir it with, but then my brain told me "no you idiot, have OJ instead" as I was reaching into the fridge. So, I grabbed the OJ. I started pouring the OJ into a glass and reached for the spoon to scoop the mix. I stared at glass for a few moments as I contemplated what was going on. Was I really about to pour chocolate milk mix into my OJ? I decided that was dumb and that it would be gross, but then, I remembered my previous concept of making Mac&Cheese&Chocolate. "This is almost the same!" I thought. So, I did what any good-minded scientist would. I scooped, I poured, I stirred, and I drank.

Now you're thinking, "Tim, that's disgusting". If you thought that, you'd be wrong. It was actually pretty good. It tasted quite like the Chocolate Orange that Kraft makes. I would recommend trying this odd idea.

yeah, I'm weird.

The weekend update (without Tina & Amy)

This weekend was pretty good. Didn't really do anything spectacular, but many average things with good people.

Sarah and I rented 2 movies (a rarity), cook food, and relaxed. I rearranged some stuff in my room, printed/framed the pic of Marc Orell flying at me from last weekend, and went to see Drew's band, Proteus, for the first time at wpi. The pics are up on the site now.

However, there was a disturbance in my Force this weekend. On SNL, Colin Farrel, in one of his pics that they show in between comercials, was seen holding a can of Guinness in a drinking position. FROM A CAN! This atrocity against the black stuff cannot be allowed to continue. Get that man a pint glass!

Um, that's all I got. Goodnight

comfort on a crappy day

So I feel like crap today. Physically, mentally, and emotionally.

However, it was nice to read this in my email this morning. I suppose that something I'm doing is right. Of course, they don't recommend doing two master's degrees at the same time, but, that's a technicality I'm will to ignore.

Published.....kinda

In addition to my photos from the DKM show the other night being up on my page, they can also be found on their own page in the photo section.

And my name is even attached with a link back to my page. That's hot.

Oh, and speaking of hot, timbaird.com is going to have his first birthday on December 22nd. My kid's getting old...

My future is bleak...aparently

Sarah and I went to Nancy Chang's today for lunch after our work-out. At the end, the waiter brought us the bill along with two fortune cookies, as is standard procedure.

However, this time was different. Upon opening the crisp, semi-edible treasure chest that held the secret to my future, as well as learning a chinese phrase that I don't care about and will never remember anyways, I let out a gasp. Looking inside the two halves, I realized that there was NO FORTUNE. That little slip of paper that I've come to love and respect, was GONE. No paper. No fortune. No future secrets for success for Tim Baird.

What does this mean? What do I do?

It's a good thing that I'm not a superstitious man, or this would have really freaked me out.

Banking at Work

I've discoverd that Nypro has a "Banking at work" setup. It's pretty sweet. It's just a 5 minute walk through the building from where my office is, it's off in its own room, right up against the back wall.

Everyday, I deposit my crispest $1 bill from my wallet into the slot on the machine, and then make the selection of what kind of "receipt" that I want. I usually go with the 20oz Black liquid version....

Wait a tic, oh man, I'm talking about the coke machine, not a real bank. Sorry.

Yeah, it's a pretty bad habit, I've been dropping a few bucks a week on freaking soda. I should just get a pallette of Sam's Club soda from Wally World, but that would require SO much effort.
