Road Bike!

So after searching, shopping around, and doing my homework on different road bikes, I've made my decision. It came down to several models from Trek and Cannondale, and this is the BAMF that I'm getting.

I'm going to get the black/silver version. I'm being fitted for it tomorrow morning.

I'm pretty pysched.

Record breaking weekend

Aside from Lance winning his 7th Tour, two other records were broken this weekend. Two, much bigger records. Tim Baird personal records.

Saturday I rode up to the Nh border from Clinton. Why? No good reason. I want to ride across Mass both north-south and west-east, so, I thought this would be a good practice run (clinton to brookline, nh is almost the same distance as one border to the other). 54 miles round trip, no stopping. I've gone more than that in one day before (80 mi) but did it in two groups of 40. So, this was a big jump.

Sunday I took another attempt at beating my Wachusett Mt. record. I ran up in 27 min (echo lake & high meadow) and down in 17 min (harrington & stage coach). I could have gone up faster by prolly a min, but I defintely could have shaved another 2 off the descent, but I got slowed down by a nasty cramp.

My legs are feeling a little tight today, but, I feel good.

CAD Training

So I spent the past 3 days in Westboro doing CAD training at our Solidworks distributor. It was pretty good. I learned a bunch of new tips and tricks, some short cuts on commonly done tasks, the place was very air conditioned, nice building, cute instructor, and the drive wasn't that bad down Rt. 9 (about 30 min).

However, the problem with taking friday off and then training the past three days is that I had a pile of stuff sitting on my desk, a bunch of emails, and several urgent voicemails. I'm almost caught up though, so, nothing too major.

ugh...sun....

So this weekend was pretty good. I went up to Old Orchard Beach with Kali, Jill, Amy, Justin, and a bunch of Jill's friends. I got friggin fried. My face is beat red and leathery. Quite attractive, I must say.....

I can't really complain though. I took friday off from work to be up there, and today till wednesday I'm doing a cad training course in Westboro instead of going to work. It's pretty good, 9-5 with an hour lunch, a good computer to use, and a cute instructor. If they had a free lunch, I'd be made in the shade.

Babson

Holy crap. Babson has this "Fast Track" program where you do most of your work online, but then once a month you have classes from thursday afternoon till late saturday. It's like the Army Reserves for education. It's kinda cool, and you're done in 26 months, instead of the potential 4-6 years it will take me doing a traditional night class program.

I hadn't even considered this program before, but last night when Kali and I went to the info session and I heard the reps talking about it, I'm pretty much sold. And then I talked to the Dean afterwards (who is an RPI alum, so, we exchanged some comical rivalry comments), who was pretty cool, and he told me a bunch more.

And so it begins...

Tonight I'm going to an info session for the Babson MBA program at the Crowne Plaza in Worcester. Kali is coming with me seeing how she'll probably get hers from there after her BA from there.

This is the first school (besides my informal emails back and forth with Assumption admissions people) that I'm starting to really look into personally and interview with. I sense a long journey beginning tonight....

great weekend

This weekend was pretty good overall.
-Friday was lame, didn't really do anything
-Saturday I went kayaking around South Meadown, but then I went on a long 31 mile bike ride. I went from Clinton to Bolton to Hudson to Malboro to Northboro to Shrewsbury to Boylston then back to Clinton. Whew!
-Sunday I went on an 18 mile ride with Marcella, then we got Meadowbrook for lunch. They had Spicy Chicken Quesadillas for the lunch special! :) Then the fireworks were pretty good.

goodnight..

Omens of a bad day

So I woke up this morning, got ready for work, and walked down to my car. I was pumped because it was 7:40am, which meant I was actually going to arrive at work on time for once. I was quite proud of this accomplishment.
As I entered the lot, I noticed one corner of my car looking rather low. Sure enough, I had a flat.

Arg! And to top it off, it was sprinkling. So I'm in my dress clothes, in the rain, changing my tire. Did anyone offer to help? Nope.

And then at work, the soda machine at my dollar. 3rd dollar this week. I hate that machine. Too bad I'm addicted to caffeine.

I can't wait to see what other kinds of lousy stuff can happen to me today...

Depressed

I've been depressed lately.

I'm getting tired of being single and I find something new everyday to dislike about my job. Ugh.

Atleast I can count on my bike and kayak to be there for me....

Awesome weekend

This weekend is going awesome, and it's only 1/2 over.

Friday:
-went to Chesnut Hill mall with Jeff and bought my iPod. It was weird, I felt like I was walking into enemy territory or something. The Apple Store was so sterile and clean. Too clean. I like a little clutter. Oh well, I have a new mp3 player now, so, I'm happy.

Saturday:
-went to Purgatory Chasm with Marcella and two of her friends. It was fun playing around the rocks. Not really a hike, but still fun.
-the four of us then proceeded to Green Hill Park for Summer Nats. Saw some awesome cars.
-went back to clinton and rode around the reservoir. It was friggin hot out, but an awesome ride.
-went back to the woo and hung out at the Burnouts all night.

Sunday:
-came to clinton early and went kayaking on South Meadow.

I'm now heading up to Sterling to go shooting at 8 pt for a while, then hiking on Wachusett.

later!

Woohoo!

It's the weekend, mo-fo's. This day has taken forever to die.

If anybody wants to do something this weekend, call the cell. I plan on hiking, kayaking, shooting, and goofing off. It's my first weekend in 6 months that I have NO HOMEWORK to do. I plan on fully utilizing this new found freedom.
