MQP time machine

So we just got our term projects assigned tonight in Norton's class. It's a smaller version of what MikeD and I received a little more than a year ago for our MQP. Yah! (insert sarcasm here)

I can't really complain though. While we do have to model almost the entire station of an assembly line and work out the cam dynamics, we don't have to mess around with the logistics of the linkages. So, I'll give Oldy some credit there.

Also, has anyone noticed how much Norton looks like William Forrester, from "Finding Forrester"? I watched it this past weekend with Sarah for the first time, and spend the movie thinking of all the similarities:

Forrester rides a bike, Norton rides a motorcycle
Forrester wears an old english style cap, so does Norton
Forrester wears a weathered leather jacket, so does Norton
Forrester is an older fellow, as well as Norton

The list goes on and on. Too bad I didn't make the connection when we were in London during the spring. Maybe Norty was also working for MI6 (Forrester = Connery = Bond)?

Money for nothing and chicks for free

I've finally completed this phrase thanks for FIRST.

I found my lovely lady almost 3 years ago through FIRST at WPI, and now another fortunate turn of events has occurred. Thanks to my exceptional solid modeling skills, I have become an asset to the Clinton/Nypro FIRST team. So much, in fact, that I am now working 1/2 days for Nypro and 1/2 for the FIRST team.

This is awesome. I do this voluntarily at nights anyways, so, this is just like icing on the cake.

This is all I got (really)

What do hippies and sperm have in common?

Only one in a million work.

Ugh

Wow, I haven't posted in a week. What a lazy bum, eh?

Well, actually, I've been spending all of my time working and doing FIRST. I was curious what it would be like to do FIRST in the exact same room that I work in. Well, I now know. It's basically like working from 8am to 9pm. Everyday. And weekends too.

This weekend sucked too. I basically ended up fighting with everyone that I love.

This blog is depressing. I'm going to stop typing now. Come back in a day or two and I'm sure it'll be better.

I love to eat (it's true)

So I'm sitting there telling Sarah about Kickoff for FIRST and what we did, and I told her about the awesome amount of pizza that I ate. I had 5 slices during the meeting, and then I brought home 3/4 of a pizza after the meeting. Mrs. Bevilacqua (gena's mom) let me bring it home, which rocked.

However, as I told her the "gena's mom" part, the thought occurred to me. In the past 7 years that I have been fully/quasi involved with FIRST (both at wpi and clinton) I have subconsciously befriended the daughters of the Food Mom's.

My first year, it was Mrs. Shaver (friends with Colleen), then it was Mrs. Haemer (friends with Kate), then Mrs. Shaver again at WPI, and now it's Mrs. Bevilacqua at Clinton and I'm starting to hang out with Gena.

Holy Crap. I really do believe now that my stomach owns me. Or, atleast my selection of friends.

FIRST and Guns

I picked up my LTC from the station yesterday after work and showed it to some of my skeptical coworkers. My new boss happened to over-hear the discussion and ask "you have a gun?" in kind of a scared/curious manner, to which I replied "Well, not yet!"
It was pretty funny.

Then this morning, I find out that I have 2 tickets to Dean's party tomorrow night at his house in Nh. Pretty sweet. So, Sarah and I will head up with my cousin Meredith after work. I won't be at kickoff on saturday, but will watch from the webcast here in Clinton.

I'm going to pistol-whip the next person that says 'Shananigans'

It's been 3 weeks since I turned my LTC application in to the Man, so I called up and ask if it was ready. After some pauses and paper shuffling, they told me that it's waiting up at the station.

Of course, they didn't tell me if I was approved or denied. I'm a little curious to see if they'll let me (a 'technical' worcester resident) get a clinton license. Now I have to wait till 5pm to find out. Bastards.

Now, if I get approved, I believe that I'll begin shopping around for that shiny Beretta that I've had my eye on...

Ranking High

If you google search for 'tim baird', you'll note that 3 of my online venues rank within the top 5 hits.

Not too shabby Tim, not too shabby.

Good Article

I just got done reading this article during lunch about low-light/concert photography.

It's pretty basic, but it's a nice overview of the whole process. I thought it was pretty cool. Enjoy.

Law & Order

That's what I did this weekend. I watched Law & Order. Literally. That's it.

I worked out a decent amount, made some car trips, got some good food with Sarah for new years, bought myself a nice bottle of Jameson's, but that's about it.

And I loved every minute of it. It was like a vacation, but without the high price tag.

Thank you for the nice weekend, TNT.
