Currently listening to: Reggie and the Full Effect, Dwarf Invasion

That's right, kids, this is post #150. Excited? I know, me too.

Anyways, I realized two critical things about my life this morning. Really, really, important, deep, and profound things:
1. I eat way too much hummus. This was concluded by the fact that I have 3 tubs of hummus in my fridge, and two of them are both of the 'red pepper' variety.
2. My hair is short. This was concluded this morning in the bathroom while shaving when I realized that my beard was longer than my head-hair.
3. I'm awesome. Case closed.

Badass

Currently listening to: Dispatch, Elias

This guy is freakin amazing. Read all 7 pages of this piece and see what this kid has done and does in high school. I can barely throw a football accurately, this guy can tackle people. Seriously.

I think we should take a road trip to go see this kid play football.

One day left!

Currently listening to: Dispatch, General

Tomorrow all of the contest entries will be seen on MikeD's page for this weeks MS Paint Challenge. As the reigning champ, I plan on decimating with my entry. I'll post my picture after the voting is done on sunday or whenever Mike calls it quits.

In other news, the weekend is almost here. I'm pumped. Nothing major is happening, but, I need a break. I'm heavily looking forward to Columbus day weekend. I also might finally skydive next weekend or the weekend after. This will be awesome, and I'll keep you posted on the progress, followed by a midflight jump photo, assuming I survive.

New Setup

Currently listening to: Coheed and Cambria, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3

So I've decided to add a line to the top of each blog indicating what I'm listening to at the time of posting. I'm stealing this from MikeD, who tells us at that beginning of each post what he is currently eating. I figured, 1/2 my posts are about music I listen to anyways, so, why not?

Dispatch

I've been listening to a lot of Dispatch lately. And I mean A LOT. As in I'll listen to it at work, then on my ipod, and in my car.

I think it's because Dispatch really mellows me out from my typically harder rock, and it's not as sad/pensive as my emo malarchy. I've been wicked stressed out from work/school lately, so, thanks Dispatch!

The Solo Polo Adventure

So I was bored yesterday and though "hmm...I wonder if I can find any real Polo polo shirts at tjmax and/or marshalls (I love polo stuff but can't afford to buy them in orthodox manners). So I spent about an hour going through the racks of men's shirts and found two awesome ones for 1/2 off.

Booyah!

Those tricky ketchup bottles...

So my sister, Stacy, and I went to T.G.I.Friday's last night for supper at Solomon. This was following a brief shopping trip where I picked up two snazzy polos from Hollister.

We're eating when I happen to over hear a customer, a woman about 40ish, asking the waitress about the ketchup bottle. And I quote, "I can't get any ketchup to come out. I've got the cap flipped up, but I can't remove the cap, and it doesn't have one of those foil or paper covers under, so, I know they can come out. And I've shaken the bottle but it won't come out!".
The waitress kinda looks at her and politely says "just squeeze it".
Woman "ooh! okay"

Wow. Stac and I got a pretty good chuckle. Thanks crazy lady!

Round 2

MikeD put up the new challenge for this week's MS Paint contest. As the reigning champ from last week (and the first challenge, too) I have to kick ass this week to retain my rule over the internet. Stay tuned for my entry...

In other news, I'm exhausted. Freakin ... tired ...
and I want to bike ride after work. Ha! right...we'll see how that goes...

My adventures in the world of sleeping

I slept in a waterbed for the first time this weekend. And not just any ol' waterbed, but a king sized waterbed. Woo!

It was weird yet exciting all at the same time.

Oh WPI, you kill me sometimes...

So I'm taking this course called "Advanced Manufacturing Processes" with Prof. Rong. This class looks like it will be very interesting and I'm actually excited to be taking it (weird, huh?). The course is cross listed as MFE 594 and ME 487X.

I originally signed up for the course as MFE 594 (a manufacturing engineering course) but then realized that I could have it count as an ME course and help satisfy the required 6 courses earlier. So, I ask around in the ME dept and registrars office about switching it over. Apparently, they wanted this course to be open to undergrads as well, and that's why the ME listing is a 4 digit number (grad courses are 3). So, if you're a grad student, it has to be an MFE course, but if you're undergrad it has to be an ME course. WTF!? This makes no sense to me. So now I have to finangle it with Prof. Rong to have it be an Independent Study so that I can count it as an ME credit. Ugh... this should be this hard...

Bike Riding? I think not.

It's still pouring in the town of clowns. It appears that I will not be riding my bike today. I've only put about 150 miles on her since the purchase. I yearn for more. She rides like a dream. She also needs a name. I've yet to do so.

However, I did put my new aerobars on the other day and took a 28-mile ride post-installation. They're fantastic. I'm able to hold an aero crouch for longer periods of time while remaining more comfortable than being all the way down using the stock curved bars. Not as aerodynamic, but pretty close for my needs. I also got the ones that spring up so that I can still utilize the straight-bar for climbing hills. It's hot.

Arg!

So ...

Where do I begin today's rant....

how about with .......................

I'M NOT GOING TO SEE DANE COOK AT UNH BECAUSE THE TICKETS SOLD OUT IN LESS THAN 2 DAYS! AGGHHH!!

Alright, now that that's out of my system, I can relax now. Oh well, it would have been fun. I can't really complain, I saw him twice this summer. I suppose I can wait until later. :(

One Year (officially)

So today marks my official (as in, one year since they made me a full-time, salaried engineer after my internship was over) one year anniversary at Nypro, Inc.

Was there any fanfare, balloons, slaps on the back for making it this far, or an acknowledgement of any kind? Nope.

One year down. 42 more to go...

Things to look forward to...

I was thinking of upcoming things earlier:

Sept. 25 - Josh's Grad party in NH
Oct. 10 - Columbus Day (no work!)
Oct. 15 - Dane Cook @ UNH
Nov. 5 - Rach's Bday party @ St. A's
Nov. 11 - Coheed and Cambria @ Palladium

It's looking to be a few good months coming up.
I really want to go see Coheed, I haven't heard them live in about 2 years. If you wanna go with me, drop me an email.

Everybody's working ON the weekend

I'm at work right now trying to get caught up with some big projects.
Not fun.

The weekend was good atleast. Spent friday night with Kristin and we went to see "the exorcism of emily rose". It was pretty good, but could have been 30 min shorter and still conveyed the story. Yesterday I went to Babson and watched Kali win her tennis match against Mt. holyoke. We then went into Boston where I proceeded to get sick and order a dish that made it worse, and didn't eat any of it's $22 glory. ugh. What a waste.

Got bagels from Bagel Inn this morning and pretty much was lazy in bed all morning. I love sunday mornings.

Back to work.

Exhausting!

Well, considering that I only got 4 hours of sleep last night, I'm not really that tired, but, my car is ... sorta. I had my new muffler installed on my car this morning.

The Nubira sounds like she grew some balls. It's not "pimped-out-Civic-on-main st.-with-giant-spoiler" loud, but it atleast sounds like it has an engine under the hood. I haven't had to accelerate quickly yet, so, the claimed HP boost is yet to be determined. However, if the reduction in back pressure on the engine gives me a little more efficiency and increases mpg a hair, then I'll be happy.

Plus, it sounds badass. For a station wagon.

What a weekend...

So this weekend was awesome. One of the best that I've had in a really long time.

Friday: Went out with Kristin again for a little Bertucci's action and then saw "Transporter 2". The movie was less than awesome, but it had some good driving scenes with my beloved A4 (which I WILL OWN someday...)
Saturday: Slept in till about 11am, ran errands, did laundry, rode 24 miles, and then stayed in for the night watching movies and playing warcraft.
Sunday: Worked on the site for a while, folded my laundry and then went to the Ware Gun Shop with my dad to shop for guns. I didn't buy a new one, but I price checked the next pistol I'm getting. I did, however, pick up the new knife that I wanted. Then met up with Kristin for some Coldstone and hung out at the apartment.
Monday: Slept in late and then hit up Wachusett for a quick hike. Then went to see the Movie on the Quad which was Sin City.

All in all, great weekend. Thanks to those who helped make it fun.

Woohoo!

The past 24 hours have rocked, and shall continue to do so.

Yesterday my new muffler, my new 50mm f/1.8 lens, and my GMAT prep book all came in the mail. I love presents (from me). Then I went go-karting after work. And now my new bike is ready at Gamache's and I'm picking it up after work tonight.

yah!
