Reason #658,394 why I haven't been to church in 4 years

I can't believe that I didn't hear about this until I saw it on "The week in God" on the Daily Show:

Utterly ridiculous. Why does the Church care about this, or more importantly, to this magnitude? Hey, atleast they didn't molest her.

It's times like this that I understand why The Da Vinci Code and A&D are two of my all-time favorite books.

while I agree with your comment on the article, in which the church is being utterly ridiculous, I feel I should throw in an argument FOR going to church so that we can make your blog as bi-partisan as possible.

the politics of church are about as far away from ideal as you can be. However, for me, going to church isn't about the politics or even the tradition (which to outsiders might seem like a mindless repetition of words and actions) going to church is an hour of self reflection, an hour of positive encouragement, an hour of peaceful positive words. How often do we get the chance to sit and listen to an individual speak on the benefits of not judging others or helping those in need? I don't go to church for the politics. I go to church to learn how to be more patient and respectful.
